Les Feuilles Mortes
My poem Autumn Leaves has just been accepted for the June edition of London Grip. I make use of the possibly uninspired rhyme of hold with gold but I am merely following in the footsteps of Johnny Mercer, who wrote English lyrics for the French song in 1947. The hundreds of recorded versions meant that Mercer earned considerably more in royalties than I will get from my poem. Maybe I should add a tune.
