A Celebration in the Cellars.

I heard that you are getting old if someone compliments you on your crocodile-skin shoes and you're wearing sandals.

It's my birthday today.

Usually, we take our summer holiday at this time of year so recent birthdays have been celebrated in Umbria, Andalucia, The Lot, The Peloponnese and on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Today I attempted to prune the plum tree in the garden and got rained off. Very heavy rain is forecast.

And now I'm just 906 years younger than Methuselah was when he finally hung up his sandals.
