In 1985 I replied to a classified ad in
The Scotsman. An entrepreneur was looking for a humorous writer to collaborate with. The entrepreneur was the Edinburgh eccentric, innovator and well-known character, Howard Denton (born Hyman Zoltie). Eventually we came up with
The Happy Land (1991),
a handsome hardback volume, published by Ramsay Head Press. The book was three times a series on BBC Radio Scotland and was featured on Radio 4's
Pick of the Week.
I've just got hold of a few pristine copies (one sold today). They are available at the original price of £12.95. My wife happened upon some comments on the web: 'No review would do this book justice, it is a gem...truly funny, and will have you laughing out loud.'
More details about
The Happy Land on the Books section of this website.
